3:6 Acknowledge 1 him in all your ways, 2
and he will make your paths straight. 3
18:22 The one who finds 4 a wife finds what is enjoyable, 5
and receives a pleasurable gift 6 from the Lord. 7
31:10 Who can find 9 a wife 10 of noble character? 11
For her value 12 is far more than rubies.
31:11 The heart of her husband has confidence 13 in her,
and he has no lack of gain. 14
31:12 She brings him 15 good and not evil 16
all the days of her life.
31:13 She obtains 17 wool and flax,
and she is pleased to work with her hands. 18
31:14 She is like 19 the merchant ships; 20
she brings her food from afar.
31:15 She also gets up 21 while it is still night,
and provides food 22 for her household and a portion 23 to her female servants.
31:16 She considers 24 a field and buys it;
from her own income 25 she plants a vineyard.
31:17 She begins 26 her work vigorously,
and she strengthens 27 her arms.
31:18 She knows 28 that her merchandise is good,
and her lamp 29 does not go out in the night.
31:19 Her hands 30 take hold 31 of the distaff,
and her hands grasp the spindle.
31:20 She extends 32 her hand 33 to the poor,
and reaches out her hand to the needy.
31:21 She is not 34 afraid of the snow 35 for her household,
for all of her household are clothed with scarlet. 36
31:22 She makes for herself coverlets; 37
her clothing is fine linen and purple. 38
31:23 Her husband is well-known 39 in the city gate 40
when he sits with the elders 41 of the land.
31:24 She makes linen garments 42 and sells them,
and supplies the merchants 43 with sashes.
31:25 She is clothed 44 with strength 45 and honor, 46
and she can laugh 47 at the time 48 to come.
31:26 She opens her mouth 49 with wisdom,
and loving instruction 50 is on her tongue.
31:27 She watches over 51 the ways of her household,
and does not eat the bread of idleness. 52
31:28 Her children rise up 53 and call her blessed,
her husband 54 also praises her:
31:29 “Many 55 daughters 56 have done valiantly, 57
but you surpass them all!”
31:30 Charm is deceitful 58 and beauty is fleeting, 59
but a woman who fears the Lord 60 will be praised.
31:31 Give 61 her credit for what she has accomplished, 62
and let her works praise her 63 in the city gates. 64
28:1 So Isaac called for Jacob and blessed him. Then he commanded him, “You must not marry a Canaanite woman! 69 28:2 Leave immediately 70 for Paddan Aram! Go to the house of Bethuel, your mother’s father, and find yourself a wife there, among the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother. 28:3 May the sovereign God 71 bless you! May he make you fruitful and give you a multitude of descendants! 72 Then you will become 73 a large nation. 74 28:4 May he give you and your descendants the blessing he gave to Abraham 75 so that you may possess the land 76 God gave to Abraham, the land where you have been living as a temporary resident.” 77
