1:1 The Proverbs 1 of 2 Solomon 3 son of David, 4 king of Israel: 5
29:1 The one who stiffens his neck 6 after numerous rebukes 7
will suddenly be destroyed 8 without remedy. 9
29:2 When the righteous become numerous, 10 the people rejoice;
when the wicked rule, the people groan. 11
29:3 The man 12 who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, 13
but whoever associates 14 with prostitutes wastes 15 his wealth. 16
29:4 A king brings stability 17 to a land 18 by justice,
but one who exacts tribute 19 tears it down.
29:5 The one 20 who flatters 21 his neighbor
spreads a net 22 for his steps. 23
29:6 In the transgression of an evil person there is a snare, 24
but a righteous person can sing 25 and rejoice. 26
29:7 The righteous person cares for 27 the legal rights 28 of the poor;
the wicked does not understand such 29 knowledge.
29:8 Scornful people 30 inflame 31 a city, 32
but those who are wise turn away wrath.
29:9 If a wise person 33 goes to court 34 with a foolish person,
there is no peace 35 whether he is angry or laughs. 36
29:10 Bloodthirsty people 37 hate someone with integrity; 38
as for the upright, they seek his life. 39
29:11 A fool lets fly with all his temper, 40
but a wise person keeps it back. 41
29:12 If a ruler listens to 42 lies, 43
all his ministers 44 will be wicked. 45
29:13 The poor person and the oppressor 46 have this in common: 47
the Lord gives light 48 to the eyes of them both.
29:14 If a king judges the poor in truth, 49
his throne 50 will be established forever.
29:15 A rod and reproof 51 impart 52 wisdom,
but a child who is unrestrained 53 brings shame 54 to his mother. 55
29:16 When the wicked increase, 56 transgression increases,
but the righteous will see 57 their downfall.
29:17 Discipline your child, and he will give you rest; 58
he will bring you 59 happiness. 60
29:18 When there is no prophetic vision 61 the people cast off restraint, 62
but the one who keeps the law, 63 blessed is he! 64
29:19 A servant 65 cannot be corrected 66 by words,
for although 67 he understands, there is no answer. 68
29:20 Do you see someone 69 who is hasty in his words? 70
There is more hope for a fool than for him. 71
29:21 If 72 someone pampers his servant from youth,
he will be a weakling 73 in the end.
29:22 An angry person 74 stirs up dissension,
and a wrathful person 75 is abounding in transgression. 76
29:23 A person’s pride 77 will bring him low, 78
but one who has a lowly spirit 79 will gain honor.
29:24 Whoever shares with a thief 80 is his own enemy; 81
he hears the oath to testify, 82 but does not talk.
29:25 The fear of people 83 becomes 84 a snare, 85
but whoever trusts in the Lord will be set on high. 86
29:26 Many people seek the face 87 of a ruler,
but it is from the Lord that one receives justice. 88
29:27 An unjust person is an abomination to the righteous,
and the one who lives an upright life is an abomination to the wicked. 89
