10:29 But the expert, 1 wanting to justify 2 himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 10:30 Jesus replied, 3 “A man was going down 4 from Jerusalem 5 to Jericho, 6 and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat 7 him up, and went off, leaving him half dead. 8 10:31 Now by chance 9 a priest was going down that road, but 10 when he saw the injured man 11 he passed by 12 on the other side. 13 10:32 So too a Levite, when he came up to 14 the place and saw him, 15 passed by on the other side. 10:33 But 16 a Samaritan 17 who was traveling 18 came to where the injured man 19 was, and when he saw him, he felt compassion for him. 20 10:34 He 21 went up to him 22 and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil 23 and wine on them. Then 24 he put him on 25 his own animal, 26 brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 10:35 The 27 next day he took out two silver coins 28 and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever else you spend, I will repay you when I come back this way.’ 29
