2:11 When Job’s three friends heard about all this calamity that had happened to him, each of them came from his own country 2 – Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. 3 They met together 4 to come to show sympathy 5 for him and to console 6 him.
69:20 Their insults are painful 7 and make me lose heart; 8
I look 9 for sympathy, but receive none, 10
for comforters, but find none.
9:17 The Lord who rules over all 11 told me to say to this people, 12
“Take note of what I say. 13
Call for the women who mourn for the dead!
Summon those who are the most skilled at it!” 14
9:18 I said, “Indeed, 15 let them come quickly and sing a song of mourning for us.
Let them wail loudly until tears stream from our own eyes
and our eyelids overflow with water.
9:19 For the sound of wailing is soon to be heard in Zion.
They will wail, 16 ‘We are utterly ruined! 17 We are completely disgraced!
For our houses have been torn down
and we must leave our land.’” 18
9:20 I said, 19
“So now, 20 you wailing women, hear what the Lord says. 21
Open your ears to the words from his mouth.
Teach your daughters this mournful song,
and each of you teach your neighbor 22 this lament.
9:21 ‘Death has climbed in 23 through our windows.
It has entered into our fortified houses.
It has taken away our children who play in the streets.
It has taken away our young men who gather in the city squares.’

1:9 Her menstrual flow 24 has soiled 25 her clothing; 26
she did not consider 27 the consequences of her sin. 28
Her demise 29 was astonishing, 30
and there was no one to comfort her.
She cried, “Look, 31 O Lord, on my 32 affliction
because my 33 enemy boasts!”

1:12 Is it nothing to you, 34 all you who pass by on the road? 35
Look and see!
Is there any pain like mine?
The Lord 36 has afflicted me, 37
he 38 has inflicted it on me
when 39 he burned with anger. 40

1:17 Zion spread out her hands,
but there is no one to comfort her.
The Lord has issued a decree against Jacob;
his neighbors 41 have become his enemies.
Jerusalem has become
like filthy garbage 42 in their midst. 43
“Sovereign Lord, forgive Israel! 44
How can Jacob survive? 45
He is too weak!” 46
