I. The Prologue (1:1-2:13)

Job’s Good Life¹

1:1 ²There was a man³ in the land of Uz⁴ whose⁵ name was Job.⁶ And that man was pure⁷ and upright,⁸ one who feared God and turned away from evil.⁹

Ayub 2:3

2:3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a pure and upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. And he still holds firmly¹⁰ to his integrity,¹¹ so that¹² you stirred me up to destroy him¹³ without reason.”¹⁴

Ayub 28:28

28:28 And he said to mankind,

‘The fear of the Lord¹⁵ – that is wisdom,

and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”¹⁶

Mazmur 34:14

34:14 Turn away from evil and do what is right!¹⁷

Strive for peace and promote it!¹⁸

Mazmur 37:27

37:27 Turn away from evil! Do what is right!¹⁹

Then you will enjoy lasting security.²⁰

Amsal 3:7

3:7 Do not be wise in your own estimation;²¹

fear the Lord and turn away from evil.²²

Amsal 16:6

16:6 Through loyal love and truth²³ iniquity is appeased;²⁴

16:17 The highway²⁸ of the upright is to turn²⁹ away from evil;

Yohanes 17:15
