Yeremia 9:11
9:11 The Lord said, 1
“I will make Jerusalem 2 a heap of ruins.
Jackals will make their home there. 3
I will destroy the towns of Judah
so that no one will be able to live in them.”
Yeremia 33:10
33:10 “I, the Lord, say: 4 ‘You and your people are saying 5 about this place, “It lies in ruins. There are no people or animals in it.” That is true. The towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem 6 will soon be desolate, uninhabited either by people or by animals. But happy sounds will again be heard in these places.
Yeremia 44:2-6
44:2 “The
Lord God of Israel who rules over all
7 says, ‘You have seen all the disaster I brought on Jerusalem
8 and all the towns of Judah. Indeed, they now lie in ruins and are deserted.
9
44:3 This happened because of the wickedness the people living there did.
10 They made me angry
11 by worshiping and offering sacrifice to
12 other gods whom neither they nor you nor your ancestors
13 previously knew.
14
44:4 I sent my servants the prophets to you people over and over
15 again warning you not to do this disgusting thing I hate.
16
44:5 But the people of Jerusalem and Judah
17 would not listen or pay any attention. They would not stop the wickedness they were doing nor quit sacrificing to other gods.
18
44:6 So my anger and my wrath were poured out and burned like a fire through the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem. That is why they have become the desolate ruins that they are today.’
Yeremia 44:22
44:22 Finally the
Lord could no longer endure your wicked deeds and the disgusting things you did. That is why your land has become the desolate, uninhabited ruin that it is today. That is why it has become a proverbial example used in curses.
19
Yesaya 6:11
6:11 I replied, “How long, sovereign master?” He said,
“Until cities are in ruins and unpopulated,
and houses are uninhabited,
and the land is ruined and devastated,
Yesaya 24:12
24:12 The city is left in ruins; 20
the gate is reduced to rubble. 21
Yesaya 64:10
64:10 Your chosen 22 cities have become a desert;
Zion has become a desert,
Jerusalem 23 is a desolate ruin.
Ratapan 1:1
The Prophet Speaks:
א (Alef) 24
1:1 25 Alas! 26 The city once full of people 27
now sits all alone! 28
The prominent 29 lady among the nations
has become a widow! 30
The princess 31 who once ruled the provinces 32
has become 33 a forced laborer! 34
Yehezkiel 33:27-28
33:27 “This is what you must say to them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: As surely as I live, those living in the ruins will die 35 by the sword, those in the open field I will give to the wild beasts for food, and those who are in the strongholds and caves will die of disease.
33:28 I will turn the land into a desolate ruin; her confident pride will come to an end. The mountains of Israel will be so desolate no one will pass through them.
Mikha 7:13
7:13 The earth will become desolate 36
because of what its inhabitants have done. 37
Zakharia 1:12
1:12 The angel of the
Lord then asked, “
Lord who rules over all,
38 how long before you have compassion on Jerusalem
39 and the other cities of Judah which you have been so angry with for these seventy years?”
40
Zakharia 7:14
7:14 ‘Rather, I will sweep them away in a storm into all the nations they are not familiar with.’ Thus the land had become desolate because of them, with no one crossing through or returning, for they had made the fruitful
41 land a waste.”
