Yeremia 3:9

3:9 Because she took her prostitution so lightly, she defiled the land¹ through her adulterous worship of gods made of wood and stone.²

Habakuk 2:19

2:19 The one who says to wood, ‘Wake up!’ is as good as dead³ –

he who says⁴ to speechless stone, ‘Awake!’

Can it give reliable guidance?⁵

It is overlaid with gold and silver;

it has no life’s breath inside it.
