2:15 Like lions his enemies roar victoriously over him;
they raise their voices in triumph. 1
They have laid his land waste;
his cities have been burned down and deserted. 2

3 comes the portent for Jerusalem – to set up battering rams, to give the signal
4 for slaughter, to shout out the battle cry,
5 to set up battering rams against the gates, to erect a siege ramp, to build a siege wall.
