2:12 Be amazed at this, O heavens! 1
Be shocked and utterly dumbfounded,”
says the Lord.
23:14 But I see the prophets of Jerusalem 2
doing something just as shocking.
They are unfaithful to me
and continually prophesy lies. 3
So they give encouragement to people who are doing evil,
with the result that they do not stop their evildoing. 4
I consider all of them as bad as the people of Sodom,
and the citizens of Jerusalem as bad as the people of Gomorrah. 5
1:2 Listen, O heavens,
pay attention, O earth! 6
For the Lord speaks:
“I raised children, 7 I brought them up, 8
but 9 they have rebelled 10 against me!
6:10 I have seen a disgusting thing in the temple of Israel:
there Ephraim practices temple prostitution
and Judah defiles itself.
