Yeremia 18:18

Jeremiah Petitions the Lord to Punish Those Who Attack Him

18:18 Then some people¹ said, “Come on! Let us consider how to deal with Jeremiah!² There will still be priests to instruct us, wise men to give us advice, and prophets to declare God’s word.³ Come on! Let’s bring charges against him and get rid of him!⁴ Then we will not need to pay attention to anything he says.”

Yeremia 20:10

20:10 I⁵ hear many whispering words of intrigue against me.

Those who would cause me terror are everywhere!⁶

They are saying, “Come on, let’s publicly denounce him!”⁷

All my so-called friends⁸ are just watching for

something that would lead to my downfall.⁹

They say, “Perhaps he can be enticed into slipping up,

so we can prevail over¹⁰ him and get our revenge on him.

Yeremia 21:9

21:9 Those who stay in this city will die in battle or of starvation or disease. Those who leave the city and surrender to the Babylonians who are besieging it will live. They will escape with their lives.¹¹

Yeremia 27:6

27:6 I have at this time placed all these nations of yours under the power¹² of my servant,¹³ King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I have even made all the wild animals subject to him.¹⁴

Yeremia 27:12-13

27:12 I told King Zedekiah of Judah the same thing. I said,¹⁵ “Submit¹⁶ to the yoke of servitude to¹⁷ the king of Babylon. Be subject to him and his people. Then you will continue to live. 27:13 There is no reason why you and your people should die in war¹⁸ or from starvation or disease!¹⁹ That’s what the Lord says will happen to any nation²⁰ that will not be subject to the king of Babylon.

Yeremia 28:14

28:14 For the Lord God of Israel who rules over all²¹ says, “I have put an irresistible yoke of servitude on all these nations²² so they will serve King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. And they will indeed serve him. I have even given him control over the wild animals.”’”²³

Yeremia 38:4

38:4 So these officials said to the king, “This man must be put to death. For he is demoralizing²⁴ the soldiers who are left in the city as well as all the other people there by these things he is saying.²⁵ This²⁶ man is not seeking to help these people but is trying to harm them.”²⁷

38:17 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “The Lord, the God who rules over all, the God of Israel,²⁸ says, ‘You must surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon. If you do, your life will be spared²⁹ and this city will not be burned down. Indeed, you and your whole family will be spared.
