22:13 “‘Sure to be judged 4 is the king who builds his palace using injustice
and treats people unfairly while adding its upper rooms. 5
He makes his countrymen work for him for nothing.
He does not pay them for their labor.
22:14 He says, “I will build myself a large palace
with spacious upper rooms.”
He cuts windows in its walls,
panels it 6 with cedar, and paints its rooms red. 7
22:15 Does it make you any more of a king
that you outstrip everyone else in 8 building with cedar?
Just think about your father.
He was content that he had food and drink. 9
He did what was just and right. 10
So things went well with him.
22:16 He upheld the cause of the poor and needy.
So things went well for Judah.’ 11
The Lord says,
‘That is a good example of what it means to know me.’ 12
22:17 But you are always thinking and looking
for ways to increase your wealth by dishonest means.
Your eyes and your heart are set
on killing some innocent person
and committing fraud and oppression. 13
22:18 So 14 the Lord has this to say about Josiah’s son, King Jehoiakim of Judah:
People will not mourn for him, saying,
“This makes me sad, my brother!
This makes me sad, my sister!”
They will not mourn for him, saying,
“Poor, poor lord! Poor, poor majesty!” 15
22:19 He will be left unburied just like a dead donkey.
His body will be dragged off and thrown outside the gates of Jerusalem.’” 16
25:1 In the fourth year that Jehoiakim son of Josiah was king of Judah, the Lord spoke to Jeremiah 17 concerning all the people of Judah. (That was the same as the first year that Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon.) 18
26:1 The Lord spoke to Jeremiah 20 at the beginning of the reign 21 of Josiah’s son, King Jehoiakim of Judah.
36:1 The Lord spoke to Jeremiah in the fourth year 22 that Jehoiakim son of Josiah was ruling over Judah. 23
46:2 He spoke about Egypt and the army of Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt which was encamped along the Euphrates River at Carchemish. Now this was the army that King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon defeated in the fourth year that Jehoiakim son of Josiah was ruling 28 over Judah. 29
46:2 He spoke about Egypt and the army of Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt which was encamped along the Euphrates River at Carchemish. Now this was the army that King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon defeated in the fourth year that Jehoiakim son of Josiah was ruling 30 over Judah. 31
24:1 After five days the high priest Ananias 36 came down with some elders and an attorney 37 named 38 Tertullus, and they 39 brought formal charges 40 against Paul to the governor. 24:2 When Paul 41 had been summoned, Tertullus began to accuse him, 42 saying, “We have experienced a lengthy time 43 of peace through your rule, 44 and reforms 45 are being made in this nation 46 through your foresight. 47 24:3 Most excellent Felix, 48 we acknowledge this everywhere and in every way 49 with all gratitude. 50 24:4 But so that I may not delay 51 you any further, I beg 52 you to hear us briefly 53 with your customary graciousness. 54 24:5 For we have found 55 this man to be a troublemaker, 56 one who stirs up riots 57 among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader 58 of the sect of the Nazarenes. 59 24:6 He 60 even tried to desecrate 61 the temple, so we arrested 62 him.
1:6 So when they had gathered together, they began to ask him, 72 “Lord, is this the time when you are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 1:7 He told them, “You are not permitted to know 73 the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts 74 of the earth.”
1:1 In the third 75 year of the reign of King Jehoiakim of Judah, King Nebuchadnezzar 76 of Babylon advanced against Jerusalem 77 and laid it under siege. 78
