Yesaya 28:16

28:16 Therefore, this is what the sovereign master, the Lord, says:

“Look, I am laying¹ a stone in Zion,

an approved² stone,

set in place as a precious cornerstone for the foundation.³

The one who maintains his faith will not panic.⁴

Lukas 2:34

2:34 Then⁵ Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, “Listen carefully:⁶ This child⁷ is destined to be the cause of the falling and rising⁸ of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be rejected.⁹

Roma 9:32-33

9:32 Why not? Because they pursued¹⁰ it not by faith but (as if it were possible) by works.¹¹ They stumbled over the stumbling stone,¹² 9:33 just as it is written,

“Look, I am laying in Zion a stone that will cause people to stumble

and a rock that will make them fall,¹³

yet the one who believes in him will not be put to shame.”¹⁴

Roma 11:9-11

11:9 And David says,

“Let their table become a snare and trap,

a stumbling block and a retribution for them;

11:10 let their eyes be darkened so that they may not see,

and make their backs bend continually.”¹⁵

11:11 I ask then, they did not stumble into an irrevocable fall,¹⁶ did they? Absolutely not! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make Israel¹⁷ jealous.

11:35 Or who has first given to God,¹⁸

that God¹⁹ needs to repay him?²⁰

11:1 So I ask, God has not rejected his people, has he? Absolutely not! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.
