The Sin of the Golden Calf

32:1 ¹ When the people saw that Moses delayed ²  in coming down ³  from the mountain, they ⁴  gathered around Aaron and said to him, “Get up, ⁵  make us gods ⁶  that will go before us. As for this fellow Moses, ⁷  the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what ⁸  has become of him!”

Ulangan 32:15

Israel’s Rebellion

32:15 But Jeshurun ⁹  became fat and kicked,

you ¹⁰  got fat, thick, and stuffed!

Then he deserted the God who made him,

and treated the Rock who saved him with contempt.

Ulangan 32:18

32:18 You have forgotten ¹¹  the Rock who fathered you,

and put out of mind the God who gave you birth.

Ibrani 10:29

10:29 How much greater punishment do you think that person deserves who has contempt for ¹³  the Son of God, and profanes ¹⁴  the blood of the covenant that made him holy, ¹⁵  and insults the Spirit of grace?
