10:21 1 The Lord said to Moses, “Extend your hand toward heaven 2 so that there may be 3 darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness so thick it can be felt.” 4
10:22 So Moses extended his hand toward heaven, and there was absolute darkness 5 throughout the land of Egypt for three days. 6 10:23 No one 7 could see 8 another person, and no one could rise from his place for three days. But the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.
13:16 Show the Lord your God the respect that is due him. 12
Do it before he brings the darkness of disaster. 13
Do it before you stumble 14 into distress
like a traveler on the mountains at twilight. 15
Do it before he turns the light of deliverance you hope for
into the darkness and gloom of exile. 16
32:8 I will darken all the lights in the sky over you,
and I will darken your land,
declares the sovereign Lord.
2:2 It will be 17 a day of dreadful darkness, 18
a day of foreboding storm clouds, 19
like blackness 20 spread over the mountains.
It is a huge and powerful army 21 –
there has never been anything like it ever before,
and there will not be anything like it for many generations to come! 22
4:13 For here he is!
He 23 formed the mountains and created the wind.
He reveals 24 his plans 25 to men.
He turns the dawn into darkness 26
and marches on the heights of the earth.
The Lord, the God who commands armies, 27 is his name!”
1:8 But with an overwhelming flood 28
he will make a complete end of Nineveh; 29
he will drive 30 his enemies into darkness.
