7:7 It is not because you were more numerous than all the other peoples that the Lord favored and chose you – for in fact you were the least numerous of all peoples. 7:8 Rather it is because of his 4 love 5 for you and his faithfulness to the promise 6 he solemnly vowed 7 to your ancestors 8 that the Lord brought you out with great power, 9 redeeming 10 you from the place of slavery, from the power 11 of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
32:8 When the Most High 15 gave the nations their inheritance,
when he divided up humankind, 16
he set the boundaries of the peoples,
according to the number of the heavenly assembly. 17
32:9 For the Lord’s allotment is his people,
Jacob is his special possession. 18
32:10 The Lord 19 found him 20 in a desolate land,
in an empty wasteland where animals howl. 21
He continually guarded him 22 and taught him; 23
he continually protected him 24 like the pupil 25 of his eye.
32:11 Like an eagle that stirs up 26 its nest,
that hovers over its young,
so the Lord 27 spread out his wings and took him, 28
he lifted him up on his pinions.
32:12 The Lord alone was guiding him, 29
no foreign god was with him.
32:13 He enabled him 30 to travel over the high terrain of the land,
and he ate of the produce of the fields.
He provided honey for him from the cliffs, 31
and olive oil 32 from the hardest of 33 rocks, 34
32:14 butter from the herd
and milk from the flock,
along with the fat of lambs,
rams and goats of Bashan,
along with the best of the kernels of wheat;
and from the juice of grapes you drank wine.
41:8 “You, my servant Israel,
Jacob whom I have chosen,
offspring of Abraham my friend, 35
41:9 you whom I am bringing back 36 from the earth’s extremities,
and have summoned from the remote regions –
I told you, “You are my servant.”
I have chosen you and not rejected you.
43:4 Since you are precious and special in my sight, 37
and I love you,
I will hand over people in place of you,
nations in place of your life.
31:3 In a far-off land the Lord will manifest himself to them.
He will say to them, ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love.
That is why I have continued to be faithful to you. 38
11:28 In regard to the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but in regard to election they are dearly loved for the sake of the fathers. 11:29 For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.
