Amsal 16:22-33

16:22 Insight is like a life-giving fountain to the one who possesses it,

but folly leads to the discipline of fools.

16:23 A wise person’s heart makes his speech wise

and it adds persuasiveness to his words.

16:24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, 10

sweet to the soul and healing 11  to the bones.

16:25 There is a way that seems right to a person, 12

but its end is the way that leads to death. 13

16:26 A laborer’s 14  appetite 15  works on his behalf, 16

for his hunger 17  urges him to work. 18

16:27 A wicked scoundrel 19  digs up 20  evil,

and his slander 21  is like a scorching fire. 22

16:28 A perverse person 23  spreads dissension,

and a gossip separates the closest friends. 24

16:29 A violent person 25  entices 26  his neighbor,

and leads him down a path that is terrible. 27

16:30 The one who winks his eyes 28  devises perverse things,

and 29  one who compresses his lips 30  brings about 31  evil.

16:31 Gray hair is like 32  a crown of glory; 33

it is attained 34  in the path of righteousness. 35

16:32 Better to be slow to anger 36  than to be a mighty warrior,

and one who controls his temper 37  is better than 38  one who captures a city. 39

16:33 The dice are thrown into the lap, 40

but their every decision 41  is from the Lord. 42
