Amsal 13:11-25

13:11 Wealth gained quickly will dwindle away,

but the one who gathers it little by little will become rich.

13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,

but a longing fulfilled is like a tree of life.

13:13 The one who despises instruction 10  will pay the penalty, 11

but whoever esteems instruction 12  will 13  be rewarded. 14

13:14 Instruction 15  from the wise 16  is like 17  a life-giving fountain, 18

to turn 19  a person 20  from deadly snares. 21

13:15 Keen insight 22  wins 23  favor,

but the conduct 24  of the unfaithful is harsh. 25

13:16 Every shrewd 26  person acts with knowledge,

but a fool displays 27  his folly.

13:17 An unreliable 28  messenger falls 29  into trouble, 30

but a faithful envoy 31  brings 32  healing.

13:18 The one who neglects 33  discipline ends up in 34  poverty and shame,

but the one who accepts reproof is honored. 35

13:19 A desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul,

but fools abhor 36  turning away from evil.

13:20 The one who associates 37  with the wise grows wise,

but a companion of fools suffers harm. 38

13:21 Calamity 39  pursues sinners,

but prosperity rewards the righteous. 40

13:22 A benevolent 41  person leaves an inheritance 42  for his grandchildren, 43

but the wealth of a sinner is stored up for the righteous. 44

13:23 There is abundant food in the field 45  of the poor,

but it is swept away by injustice. 46

13:24 The one who spares his rod 47  hates 48  his child, 49

but the one who loves his child 50  is diligent 51  in disciplining 52  him.

13:25 The righteous has enough food to satisfy his appetite, 53

but the belly of the wicked lacks food. 54
