Ezekiel 13:11

13:11 Tell the ones who coat it with whitewash that it will fall. When there is a deluge of rain, hailstones will fall and a violent wind will break out.

Ezekiel 25:15

A Prophecy Against Philistia

25:15 “This is what the sovereign Lord says: ‘The Philistines have exacted merciless revenge, showing intense scorn in their effort to destroy Judah with unrelenting hostility.

Ezekiel 29:20

29:20 I have given him the land of Egypt as his compensation for attacking Tyre, because they did it for me, declares the sovereign Lord.

Ezekiel 45:5

45:5 An area eight and a quarter miles in length and three and one-third miles 10  in width will be for the Levites, who minister at the temple, as the place for the cities 11  in which they will live.

tn Heb “and you, O hailstones.”

sn A violent wind will break out. God’s judgments are frequently described in storm imagery (Pss 18:7-15; 77:17-18; 83:15; Isa 28:17; 30:30; Jer 23:19; 30:23).

sn The Philistines inhabited the coastal plain by the Mediterranean Sea, west of Judah.

tn Heb “have acted with vengeance and taken vengeance with vengeance.” The repetition emphasizes the degree of vengeance which they exhibited, presumably toward Judah.

tn Heb “with scorn in (the) soul.”

tn The object is not specified in the Hebrew text, but has been clarified as “Judah” in the translation.

tn Heb “to destroy (with) perpetual hostility.” Joel 3:4-8 also speaks of the Philistines taking advantage of the fall of Judah.

tn Heb “for which he worked,” referring to the assault on Tyre (v. 18).

tn Heb “twenty-five thousand cubits” (i.e., 13.125 kilometers).

tn Heb “ten thousand cubits” (i.e., 5.25 kilometers).

tc The translation follows the LXX here. The MT reads “twenty.” See L. C. Allen, Ezekiel (WBC), 2:246.
