Nehemia 4:10

4:10 Then those in Judah said, “The strength of the laborers has failed! The debris is so great that we are unable to rebuild the wall.”

Nehemia 4:19

4:19 I said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people, “The work is demanding and extensive, and we are spread out on the wall, far removed from one another.

Nehemia 4:22

4:22 At that time I instructed the people, “Let every man and his coworker spend the night in Jerusalem and let them be guards for us by night and workers by day.

Nehemia 5:16

tn Heb “burden-bearers.”

tn Heb “much.”

tn Heb “said [to].”

tn Heb “we did not purchase.”

tn Heb “my words.”

tn Or “to intimidate” (so NIV, NRSV, NLT).

tn Heb “they were desecrated.”

tn Heb “brothers” (also in vv. 13, 14, 17, 19).

tn Some scholars delete these words, regarding them as a later scribal addition to the text.

10 tc The translation reads הוֹלֶכֶת (holekhet, “was proceeding”) rather than the MT הַהוֹלֶכֶת (haholekhet, “the one proceeding”). The MT probably reflects dittography – accidental writing of ה (hey) twice instead of once.

11 tn The words “I also provided for” are not included in the Hebrew text, but are supplied in the translation for the sake of clarity.
