66:12 You allowed men to ride over our heads;
we passed through fire and water,
but you brought us out into a wide open place. 1
7:10 When my enemies see this, they will be covered with shame.
They say 2 to me, “Where is the Lord your God?”
I will gloat over them. 3
Then they will be trampled down 4
like mud in the streets.
1 tc The MT reads רְוָיָה (“saturation”) but this should be emended to רְוָחָה (rÿvakhah, “wide open place”; i.e., “relief”), a reading supported by several ancient versions (LXX, Syriac, Jerome, Targum).
2 tn Heb “who say.” A new sentence was begun here in the translation for stylistic reasons.
3 tn Heb “My eyes will look on them.”
4 tn Heb “a trampled-down place.”
