Luke 7:1

Healing the Centurion’s Slave

7:1 After Jesus had finished teaching all this to the people, he entered Capernaum.

Luke 12:43

12:43 Blessed is that slave whom his master finds at work when he returns.

Luke 15:5

15:5 Then when he has found it, he places it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

Luke 17:26

17:26 Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man.

tn Grk “he”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

tn Grk “After he had completed all his sayings in the hearing of the people.”

sn Capernaum was a town on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee, 680 ft (204 m) below sea level. It was a major trade and economic center in the North Galilean region.

tn See the note on the word “slave” in 7:2.

tn That is, doing his job, doing what he is supposed to be doing.

tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.

10 tn Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

11 tn Or “as it happened.”

12 sn Like the days of Noah, the time of the flood in Gen 6:5-8:22, the judgment will come as a surprise as people live their day to day lives.
