Leviticus 26:6

26:6 I will grant peace in the land so that you will lie down to sleep without anyone terrifying you. I will remove harmful animals from the land, and no sword of war will pass through your land.

Leviticus 26:2

26:2 You must keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary. I am the Lord.

1 Samuel 7:10

7:10 As Samuel was offering burnt offerings, the Philistines approached to do battle with Israel. But on that day the Lord thundered loudly against the Philistines. He caused them to panic, and they were defeated by Israel.

Isaiah 48:18

48:18 If only you had obeyed my commandments,

prosperity would have flowed to you like a river,

deliverance would have come to you like the waves of the sea. 10

tn Heb “and.” The Hebrew conjunction ו (vav, “and”) can be considered to have resultative force here.

tn Heb “and there will be no one who terrifies.” The words “to sleep” have been supplied in the translation for clarity.

tn Heb “harmful animal,” singular, but taken here as a collective plural (so almost all English versions).

tn Heb “no sword”; the words “of war” are supplied in the translation to indicate what the metaphor of the sword represents.

tn Heb “and my sanctuary you shall fear.” Cf. NCV “respect”; CEV “honor.”

tn Heb “approached for battle against Israel.”

10 tn Heb “before.”

13 tn Heb “paid attention to” (so NASB, NIV, NRSV); TEV “had listened to.”

14 tn Heb “like a river your peace would have been.” שָׁלוֹם (shalom) probably refers here to the peace and prosperity which God promised in return for obedience to the covenant.

15 tn Heb “and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.” צְדָקָה (tsÿdaqah) probably refers here to divine deliverance from enemies. See v. 19.
