2 Samuel 3:39

3:39 Today I am weak, even though I am anointed as king. These men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too much for me to bear! May the Lord punish appropriately the one who has done this evil thing!”

Psalms 18:18

18:18 They confronted me in my day of calamity,

but the Lord helped me.

tn Heb “are hard from me.”

tn Heb “May the Lord repay the doer of the evil according to his evil” (NASB similar).

tn The same verb is translated “trapped” in v. 5. In this poetic narrative context the prefixed verbal form is best understood as a preterite indicating past tense, not imperfect.

tn Heb “became my support.”
