24:1 During Jehoiakim’s reign, ¹  King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked. ²  Jehoiakim was his subject for three years, but then he rebelled against him. ³ 

Ezra 4:19

4:19 So I gave orders, ⁴  and it was determined ⁵  that this city from long ago has been engaging in insurrection against kings. It has continually engaged in ⁶  rebellion and revolt.

Yesaya 36:5

36:5 Your claim to have a strategy and military strength is just empty talk. ⁷  In whom are you trusting, that you would dare to rebel against me?

⁵ tn Aram “and they searched and found.”

⁶ tn Aram “are being done.”

⁷ tn Heb “you say only a word of lips, counsel and might for battle.” Sennacherib’s message appears to be in broken Hebrew at this point. The phrase “word of lips” refers to mere or empty talk in Prov 14:23.
