17:1 Ucapan ilahi terhadap Damsyik. Sesungguhnya, Damsyik tidak akan tetap sebagai kota, nanti menjadi suatu timbunan reruntuhan; 17:2 kampung-kampungnya akan ditinggalkan selama-lamanya dan menjadi tempat bagi kawanan-kawanan ternak, yang berbaring dengan tidak diganggu oleh siapapun. 17:3 Kubu-kubu akan hilang dari Efraim dan kuasa kerajaan akan lenyap dari Damsyik, juga sisa-sisa Aram, semuanya akan lenyap sama seperti kemuliaan orang Israel, demikianlah firman TUHAN semesta alam. 17:4 Maka pada waktu itu kemuliaan Yakub akan berkurang, dan kemakmurannya akan susut; 17:5 keadaannya seperti gandum yang digenggam orang untuk dituai dan tangannya memetik bulir-bulir; atau seperti bulir-bulir yang dipungut orang di lembah orang Refaim.
