Allah menyatakan nubuat-nubuat ini supaya memberikan pengharapan dan penghiburan kepada umat-Nya selama mereka tertawan di Babel 150 tahun sesudah zaman Yesaya (lih. Yes 39:5-8); pasal-pasal ini penuh dengan penyataan nubuat mengenai Mesias yang akan datang dan kerajaan-Nya di bumi kelak.
