20:14 Lalu Yahaziel bin Zakharia bin Benaya bin Matanya, seorang Lewi dari bani Asaf, dihinggapi Roh TUHAN di tengah-tengah jemaah, 20:15 dan berseru: "Camkanlah, hai seluruh Yehuda dan penduduk Yerusalem dan tuanku raja Yosafat, beginilah firman TUHAN kepadamu: Janganlah kamu takut dan terkejut karena laskar yang besar ini, sebab bukan kamu yang akan berperang melainkan Allah. 20:16 Besok haruslah kamu turun menyerang mereka. Mereka akan mendaki pendakian Zis, dan kamu akan mendapati mereka di ujung lembah, di muka padang gurun Yeruel. 20:17 Dalam peperangan ini tidak usah kamu bertempur. Hai Yehuda dan Yerusalem, tinggallah berdiri di tempatmu, dan lihatlah bagaimana TUHAN memberikan kemenangan kepadamu. Janganlah kamu takut dan terkejut. Majulah besok menghadapi mereka, TUHAN akan menyertai kamu." 20:18 Lalu berlututlah Yosafat dengan mukanya ke tanah. Seluruh Yehuda dan penduduk Yerusalempun sujud di hadapan TUHAN dan menyembah kepada-Nya.

Di sini kekuatan dan kuasa iman ditunjukkan dengan memuji Allah dengan nyanyian sementara berhadapan dengan perang (ayat 2Taw 20:18-19). Demikian pula, Paulus menasihatkan orang percaya untuk "kuat di dalam Tuhan, di dalam kekuatan kuasa-Nya" ketika melawan berbagai kekuatan dan kuasa rohani Iblis (Ef 6:10).

Ceritera yang panjang ini tidak terdapat dalam kitab Raja-raja. Namun ia bukan buah khayal si Muwarikh. Ia agaknya berasal dari tradisi yang terpelihara di bagian selatan negeri. Ini terasa dalam nama-nama tempat yang terletak di bagian selatan itu. Inti historis kisah ini agaknya sebuah serangan yang dilontarkan kelompok-kelompok yang menyerbu dari daerah di seberang sungai Yordan dan dari tanah Negeb. Sewaktu-waktu serangan semacam itu terjadi dan akhirnya orang Edom memang berhasil menetap di bagian selatan Palestina. Tetapi kisah seperti disajikan Tawarikh mengingatkan kitab Ulangan dan gaya sasteranya serupa dengan gaya sastera yang lazim dalam ceritera-ceritera mengenai perang suci, lihat khususnya 2Ta 20:15-18,22-23,29.
