40:29 Mezbah korban bakaran ditempatkannyalah di depan pintu Kemah Suci, yakni Kemah Pertemuan itu, dan dipersembahkannyalah di atasnya korban bakaran dan korban sajian -- seperti yang diperintahkan TUHAN kepada Musa. 40:30 Ditempatkannyalah bejana pembasuhan di antara Kemah Pertemuan dan mezbah itu, lalu ditaruhnyalah air ke dalamnya untuk pembasuhan. 40:31 Musa dan Harun serta anak-anaknya membasuh tangan dan kaki mereka dengan air dari dalamnya. 40:32 Apabila mereka masuk ke dalam Kemah Pertemuan dan apabila mereka datang mendekat kepada mezbah itu, maka mereka membasuh kaki dan tangan -- seperti yang diperintahkan TUHAN kepada Musa. 40:33 Didirikannyalah tiang-tiang pelataran sekeliling Kemah Suci dan mezbah itu, dan digantungkannyalah tirai pintu gerbang pelataran itu. Demikianlah diselesaikan Musa pekerjaan itu.

Kemuliaan TUHAN memenuhi Kemah Suci

40:34 Lalu awan itu menutupi Kemah Pertemuan, dan kemuliaan TUHAN memenuhi Kemah Suci, 40:35 sehingga Musa tidak dapat memasuki Kemah Pertemuan, sebab awan itu hinggap di atas kemah itu, dan kemuliaan TUHAN memenuhi Kemah Suci. 40:36 Apabila awan itu naik dari atas Kemah Suci, berangkatlah orang Israel dari setiap tempat mereka berkemah. 40:37 Tetapi jika awan itu tidak naik, maka merekapun tidak berangkat sampai hari awan itu naik. 40:38 Sebab awan TUHAN itu ada di atas Kemah Suci pada siang hari, dan pada malam hari ada api di dalamnya, di depan mata seluruh umat Israel pada setiap tempat mereka berkemah.

Kitab Keluaran berakhir dengan kemuliaan Tuhan yang memenuhi Kemah Suci.

1) Manifestasi ini melambangkan perihal Tuhan berdiam di dalam dan di tengah-tengah umat-Nya melalui gereja yang sejati (bd. 1Kor 3:16; Ef 2:18-22). Peristiwa ini selanjutnya melambangkan bahwa di masa depan Allah berdiam di tengah-tengah semua orang kudus-Nya yang setia di langit baru dan bumi baru (Wahy 21:3).
2) "Kemuliaan Tuhan" sering kali disebut sebagai kemuliaan "Shekinah"

Sebagian besar dari bagian terakhir kitab Keluaran ini, yaitu Kel 19:1-2; 24:15-31:18; 34:29-35:8, berasal dari tradisi Para Imam. Bagian yang memuat Kitab (Hukum) Perjanjian, Kel 20:22-23:33, harus dipisahkan, sebab baru belakangan dihubungkan dengan peristiwa di gunung Sinai. Bagian-bagian lain berasal dari sumber-sumber yang lebih tua usianya. Sering sukar menentukan bagian manakah berasal dari tradisi Yahwista dan bagian manakah berasal dari tradisi Elohista. Menurut pandangan penyusun terakhir kisah ini maka perjanjian yang diadakan Musa meneguhkan kepilihan bangsa Israel serta janji-janji yang telah diberikan kepadanya, Kel 6:5-7, sama seperti perjanjian dengan Abraham (yang disinggung dalam Kel 6:4) meneguhkan janji-janji yang terdahulu, Kej 17. Akan tetapi perjanjian dengan Abraham diadakan dengan seorang saja (walaupun perjanjian itu menyangkut keturunannya) dan disertai satu perintah saja (sunat). Perjanjian di gunung Sinai langsung menyangkut seluruh bangsa yang menerima hukum: kesepuluh perintah (Allah) serta Kitab Perjanjian. Bersama dengan semua tambahannya dari zaman kemudian hukum tsb menjadi piagam agama Yahudi, Sir 24:9-27 menyamakan Hukum Taurat itu dengan Hikmat Allah. Tetapi sekaligus hukum itu "menjadi suatu saksi terhadap bangsa Israel", Ula 31:26, artinya: pelanggaran hukum Taurat oleh umat Israel akan membatalkan segala janji dan akan mendatangkan kutuk Allah. Maka hukum Taurat hanya berperan sebagai pengajaran dan paksaan untuk menyiapkan manusia bagi kedatangan Kristus yang akan mengadakan suatu perjanjian yang baru. Peranan sementara dari hukum Taurat itu diterangkan Paulus dalam uraiannya melawan orang Kristen yang hendak memaksakan hukum Taurat kepada orang Kristen bukan Yahudi, Gal 3; Rom 7.
