Ini rupanya sebuah sisipan, sebab dalam ceritera selanjutnya nabi-nabi itu tidak lagi disebut. Adapun "nabi-nabi Baal" ialah bukannya orang yang disuruh (Allah atau) dewa itu, tetapi itu orang yang sebulat-bulatnya membaktikan diri kepada (Allah atau) dewa, misalnya Baal, serta pemujaannya. Secara fanatik mereka berbakti kepada dewanya. Dengan memakai berbagai sarana (menari, musik, menoreh dirinya dsb) mereka masuk ekstase lalu dianggap kerasukan dewanya. Pada bangsa-bangsa tetangga Israel ada nabi-nabi semacam itu, Yer 27:9 dst, dan mereka sering kali membentuk kelompok-kelompok yang besar jumlahnya. Kelompok-kelompok yang serupa tetapi bagi Tuhan juga ada pada bangsa Israel, 1Ra 18:4. Nabi-nabi Baal yang disebut dalam 1Ra 18:19 ini ialah nabi-nabi dewa Tirus, Baal, yang oleh permaisuri, Izebel dipanggil dan diberi nafkah. Mengenai Baal bdk Hak 2:13+.
