29:21 Beginilah firman TUHAN semesta alam, Allah Israel, tentang Ahab bin Kolaya dan tentang Zedekia bin Maaseya, orang-orang yang bernubuat palsu kepadamu demi nama-Ku: Sesungguhnya Aku akan menyerahkan mereka ke dalam tangan Nebukadnezar, raja Babel, yang akan memarang mereka mati di depan matamu sendiri, 29:22 sehingga dari keadaan mereka akan dijadikan suatu kutuk oleh semua orang buangan dari Yehuda yang ada di Babel, demikian: Biarlah TUHAN memperlakukan kamu seperti Zedekia dan Ahab yang telah dipanggang oleh raja negeri Babel di dalam api!, 29:23 oleh karena mereka telah melakukan kebebalan di Israel, telah berzinah dengan isteri sesama mereka dan telah mengucapkan demi nama-Ku perkataan dusta yang tidak Kupesankan kepada mereka. Aku sendirilah yang mengetahui dan menyaksikannya, demikianlah firman TUHAN."

Nas : Yer 29:1-23

Surat Yeremia kepada para buangan Yahudi yang tertawan tahun 597 SM, mungkin ditulis setahun atau dua tahun setelah mereka tiba di Babel. Yeremia memberikan mereka pengarahan berikut:

1) Mereka harus hidup secara normal, membangun rumah, menikah, dan mengusahakan kesejahteraan atau kemakmuran kota di mana Allah menempatkan mereka, karena mereka tidak akan kembali ke tanah perjanjian hingga genap 70 tahun (ayat Yer 29:7,10).
2) Mereka tidak boleh mendengarkan para nabi palsu yang meramalkan bahwa masa pembuangan itu akan singkat (ayat Yer 29:8-9).
3) Mereka yang tertinggal di Yerusalem akan menderita dengan hebat karena tetap memberontak terhadap Allah (ayat Yer 29:15-19).
4) Dua nabi palsu akan dibunuh karena hidup dalam perzinaan dan memalsukan Firman Allah (ayat Yer 29:21-23).
5) Pada akhir 70 tahun penawanan, kaum sisa itu akan sungguh-sungguh mencari Allah untuk pemulihan; Ia akan menjawab doa syafaat mereka karena rencana-rencana-Nya bagi mereka (ayat Yer 29:10-14).

Allah menganggapnya suatu kebebalan bila menyampaikan berita-Nya dan pada saat bersamaan melakukan perzinaan dan perbuatan amoral lainnya. Karena perbuatan itu, dua nabi yaitu Ahab dan Zedekia (ayat Yer 29:21) akan dibunuh di depan banyak orang. Para pemimpin gereja masa kini yang hidup di dalam perzinaan sambil memberitakan Firman Allah juga akan menghadapi hukuman Allah yang berat
