31:1 Berfirmanlah TUHAN kepada Musa: 31:2 "Lihat, telah Kutunjuk Bezaleel bin Uri bin Hur, dari suku Yehuda, 31:3 dan telah Kupenuhi dia dengan Roh Allah, dengan keahlian dan pengertian dan pengetahuan, dalam segala macam pekerjaan, 31:4 untuk membuat berbagai rancangan supaya dikerjakan dari emas, perak dan tembaga; 31:5 untuk mengasah batu permata supaya ditatah; untuk mengukir kayu dan untuk bekerja dalam segala macam pekerjaan. 31:6 Juga Aku telah menetapkan di sampingnya Aholiab bin Ahisamakh, dari suku Dan; dalam hati setiap orang ahli telah Kuberikan keahlian. Haruslah mereka membuat segala apa yang telah Kuperintahkan kepadamu: 31:7 Kemah Pertemuan, tabut untuk hukum, tutup pendamaian yang terletak di atasnya, dan segala perabotan kemah itu, 31:8 yakni meja dengan perkakasnya, kandil dari emas murni dengan segala perkakasnya, mezbah pembakaran ukupan, 31:9 mezbah korban bakaran dengan segala perkakasnya, bejana pembasuhan dengan alasnya, 31:10 pakaian jabatan, baik pakaian kudus kepunyaan imam Harun, maupun pakaian anak-anaknya, untuk memegang jabatan imam, 31:11 minyak urapan dan ukupan dari wangi-wangian untuk tempat kudus; tepat seperti yang telah Kuperintahkan kepadamu haruslah mereka membuat semuanya."

Bagian yang memuat Kitab (Hukum) Perjanjian, Kel 20:22-23:33, harus dipisahkan, sebab baru belakangan dihubungkan dengan peristiwa di gunung Sinai. Bagian-bagian lain berasal dari sumber-sumber yang lebih tua usianya. Sering sukar menentukan bagian manakah berasal dari tradisi Yahwista dan bagian manakah berasal dari tradisi Elohista. Menurut pandangan penyusun terakhir kisah ini maka perjanjian yang diadakan Musa meneguhkan kepilihan bangsa Israel serta janji-janji yang telah diberikan kepadanya, Kel 6:5-7, sama seperti perjanjian dengan Abraham (yang disinggung dalam Kel 6:4) meneguhkan janji-janji yang terdahulu, Kej 17. Akan tetapi perjanjian dengan Abraham diadakan dengan seorang saja (walaupun perjanjian itu menyangkut keturunannya) dan disertai satu perintah saja (sunat). Perjanjian di gunung Sinai langsung menyangkut seluruh bangsa yang menerima hukum: kesepuluh perintah (Allah) serta Kitab Perjanjian. Bersama dengan semua tambahannya dari zaman kemudian hukum tsb menjadi piagam agama Yahudi, Sir 24:9-27 menyamakan Hukum Taurat itu dengan Hikmat Allah. Tetapi sekaligus hukum itu "menjadi suatu saksi terhadap bangsa Israel", Ula 31:26, artinya: pelanggaran hukum Taurat oleh umat Israel akan membatalkan segala janji dan akan mendatangkan kutuk Allah. Maka hukum Taurat hanya berperan sebagai pengajaran dan paksaan untuk menyiapkan manusia bagi kedatangan Kristus yang akan mengadakan suatu perjanjian yang baru. Peranan sementara dari hukum Taurat itu diterangkan Paulus dalam uraiannya melawan orang Kristen yang hendak memaksakan hukum Taurat kepada orang Kristen bukan Yahudi, Gal 3; Rom 7.
