Bagian ini merupakan kata pendahuluan kedua bagi kitab Hakim, yaitu bagi kumpulan riwayat-riwayat hakim masing-masing. Kata pendahuluan ini terdiri atas beberapa unsur. Bagian inti ialah Hak 2:11-19; dalam terbitan kitab yang pertama bagian ini kiranya langsung mendahului Hak 3:7 dst. Hak 2:6-10 kemudian ditambahkan dan langsung menghubungkan kitab Hakim dengan kitab Yosua; memang Hak 2:6-10 mengulangi ayat-ayat penghabisan kitab Yos (24:28-31), sama seperti Ezr 1:1-3 mengulangi 2Ta 36:22-23, Hak 2:20-3:6 ditambah pada Hak 2:11-19 dengan maksud menjelaskan mengapa tetap ada bangsa-bangsa asing di tengah-tengah bangsa Israel.
