Kisah panjang yang tercantum dalam 2Sa 9; 1Ra 2 oleh si Muwarikh diringkaskan begitu rupa sehingga hanya berceritera tentang kemenangan-kemenangan raja. Ia melewatkan pertikaian dalam keluarga Daud dan sejarah sial keluarganya yaitu: zinah Daud serta kelahiran Salomo, pembunuhan atas diri Amnon, pemberontakan Absalom, perlawanan dari pihak Seba dan persekongkolan Adonia. Si Muwarikh mencegah diri dari menyebut apa saja yang dapat menodai gambar pahlawannya, yaitu Daud. Begitu ia membuka jalan bagi penegasannya bahwa Daud tidak dapat membangun bait Allah oleh karena terlalu terlibat dalam peperangan, 1Ta 22:8; 28:3. Si Muwarikh juga berpendapat bahwa semua barang rampasan yang diperoleh dalam peperangan itu diperuntukkan bagi pembangunan bait Allah, 1Ta 29:2-5
