Emmaus = "warm baths" 1) the village to which the two disciples were going when our Lord appeared to them on the way, on the day of resurrection. Lk. 24:13. Luke makes its distance from Jerusalem, sixty stadia, or 7.5 miles (12 km); and Josephus mentions "a village called Emmaus" at the same distance.
