Jesus said to them, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of your hard hearts, but from the beginning it was not this way.

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, and kneeling down she asked him for a favor.

Two blind men were sitting by the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, “Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David!”

The crowd scolded them to get them to be quiet. But they shouted even more loudly, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”

For I tell you, you will not see me from now until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

For then there will be great suffering unlike anything that has happened from the beginning of the world until now, or ever will happen.

For the one who has will be given more, and he will have more than enough. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

And when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. They hold fast to many other traditions: the washing of cups, pots, kettles, and dining couches.)

He answered them, “You unbelieving generation! How much longer must I be with you? How much longer must I endure you? Bring him to me.”

It has often thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

For I tell you the truth, whoever gives you a cup of water because you bear Christ’s name will never lose his reward.

Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question. Answer me and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:

“You must watch out for yourselves. You will be handed over to councils and beaten in the synagogues. You will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them.

Then he will send angels and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.

Going a little farther, he threw himself to the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour would pass from him.

He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
